Tigre Sheets 310-906-5443 ejsheets@hotmail.com tigresheetsdesign.squarespace.com Tigre Sheets is a Los Angeles-based artist who grew up in Mystic, Connecticut and attended Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, Colorado where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1977 in Art with a concentration in Metal and Jewelry Smithing. Tigre worked as a design engineer in aerospace for most of her professional career. One of her many jobs was working on Epcot at Walt Disney Imagineering in Glendale, California. She was always active in art, designing and making jewelry, graphic design, painting and figure drawing. Collins, Colorado 1st Place Metal and Jewelry Smithing Artist Statement: A passion for art, design and metalsmithing has inspired me to create one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces. My designs prominently feature textured constructed and casting organic materials to create wearable art. My pieces are comprised of mixed metals including silver, gold, brass and copper, and juxtaposed with contrasting materials such as acrylic, pearls, seashells and gemstones which are a hallmark of my designs. As an artist and engineer I was influenced by architect Zaha Hadid's dramatic innovation and swooping lines. Andy Warhol’s Campbells Soup cans made us look at ordinary objects with a new perspective which is what I attempt to do. Found objects, natural and man-made inspire my unique creativity. Jewelry is more than ornamentation but an artistic identity that can transcend preconceived perceptions. Each piece provides the wearer with a unique opportunity to define their style.
