About the artist

Joshua Elias (b. 1957 Chicago Illinois) Abstract artist Joshua Elias a maker of colorful, narrative works. Focused upon creating form, through color and utilizing polarities of color to help distinguish his art and harmonic tales. The artist accentuates shapes housed by disappearing lines, providing an armature serving as the composition. Thematically, his interests lay in the interstitial, the tone of the atmosphere, and the mythology of story. Joshua grew up in Chicago in an artistic family. Highly educated at the Art Institute of Chicago. He earned a BFA at San Diego State University majoring in film and theater. Later attending the DESIGN ART ARCHITECTURE SCHOOL under the tutelage of collage artist George Herms amongst others. OTIS School of Design under the mentorship of multi media artist Franklyn Liegal. At the GETTY under the material arts expert Sylvana Barrett. Always appreciative of my teachers.
